  • 1 cup salted butter room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 3/4 cup colorful sprinkles
For the Frosting:
  • 1 cup salted butter room temperature
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4-6 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup sprinkles

Method
 

Make the cake:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 13x9-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a medium bowl and set aside.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar with an electric mixer for 1 to 2 minutes until fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla, then alternately add the milk and dry ingredients while the mixer runs on low; mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35 to 45 minutes until the center springs back when touched.
  7. Allow the cake to cool completely before applying the frosting.
Make the frosting:
  1. Whip room-temperature butter in a stand mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes until it is nearly white.
  2. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla, and 3 tablespoons of cream, then beat on low for 3 to 5 minutes, adding more milk if a thinner consistency is needed.
  3. Gently fold in the sprinkles.
  4. Spread the frosting over the cooled cake and top with additional sprinkles if desired.
