Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 15 tablespoons unsalted butter , softened and divided
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan, line it with parchment paper, and grease the paper as well.
  3. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in the microwave in 30-second increments, then stir in the cocoa powder until well combined.
  4. Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a separate bowl.
  5. Cream the remaining 12 tablespoons of softened butter and sugar with a mixer, then beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  6. Gradually incorporate the flour mixture into the batter.
  7. Stir the milk into the batter.
  8. Fold half of the batter into the butter-cocoa mixture until thoroughly combined.
  9. Pour the chocolate batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  10. Spoon the yellow cake batter gently into the loaf pan over the chocolate layer.
  11. Swirl the batter gently with the tip of a knife for a few seconds.
  12. Cover the loaf pan with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  13. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
  14. Allow the cake to cool completely before removing it from the loaf pan.
