  • 1 cup (240 ml) All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) Salt
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) Unsalted Butter cold, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) Milk whole or 2% milk
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) Ground Cinnamon optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) Nutmeg optional

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Toss sliced peaches with 1 cup granulated sugar and optional spices, then spread into a baking dish.
  2. Whisk flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Mix in milk and vanilla until just combined. Spoon the topping over the peaches in the baking dish, leaving gaps.
  4. Bake for 40-50 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly. Check for doneness by inserting a skewer into a peach slice.
